About This Site
SecurityDepositCalculator.io exists because getting a security deposit back shouldn't require a law degree. Every state sets its own deadline, interest rule, and penalty — and most tenants never find out what they're actually owed.
The site is built and maintained by Praveen Pandey, an independent developer, with the state law dataset verified against official government sources — state legislature websites, municipal codes, and official rate publications. It is not run by a law firm, and we don't accept payment from landlords or property managers.
Everything here is free: the calculator, the state law pages, and the demand letter generator. The site is supported by optional email subscriptions and, in the future, non-intrusive advertising.
What we care about
- Accuracy over coverage. A jurisdiction only ships when its rules have been verified against the official statute — see the methodology for how.
- Privacy by design. Calculations run in your browser. We can't see your deposit amount, your address, or your landlord's name — and we like it that way.
- Plain English. Statutes are dense; your rights shouldn't be.
Corrections
Spotted an outdated rate or a statute change we missed? Email [email protected] — corrections are reviewed against the official source and shipped with an updated "last verified" date.
