Privacy Policy

The short version

Your calculations — deposit amounts, dates, names, addresses — run entirely in your browser and are never sent to our servers. The only personal information we ever collect is your email address, and only if you choose to give it to us.

Calculator & demand letter data

Everything you type into the calculator and demand letter form stays on your device. The demand letter form uses your browser's sessionStorage so a page refresh doesn't lose your work; that data is deleted automatically when you close the tab. The PDF is generated locally in your browser.

Email address

If you enter your email to download a demand letter, it is sent directly to our email newsletter provider to add you to our tenant-rights list. We don't store it anywhere else. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. We never sell or share your email.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count page views and anonymous events (like "a calculation was completed"). Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visitors and may collect your IP address, device, and browser information. No personal or financial values you enter into our tools are ever included in analytics events. You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com, and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Approximate location

To save you a step, when you open the calculator we ask GeoJS, a third-party IP-geolocation service, which U.S. state your IP address corresponds to, and preselect that state in the dropdown. This is a rough, state-level estimate — it does not use your device's GPS, no browser permission is requested, and no cookie is set. Your IP address is visible to GeoJS as part of answering the request (as with any web request; see the GeoJS privacy policy); we receive and keep only the state name for your current browser tab. You can always change or clear the selection, and if the lookup fails or is blocked the calculator simply starts empty.

Advertising

We may display ads served by Google AdSense to keep this site free. Google and its partners use advertising cookies to serve ads, which may be personalized based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings. Ad networks never receive anything you type into the calculator or demand letter form.

Attorney evaluation form

If you choose to submit the optional "free case evaluation" form, the contact details you provide are forwarded to us so we can route your inquiry. We only do this with your explicit consent on the form itself.

What we don't do

• No accounts, no logins, no stored calculations.
• No sale of personal information, ever.
